Washougal High School student joins Rep. Kevin Waters in Olympia as a House page

Washougal High Schooler, Jacob Larzalere, recently spent a week at the state Capitol in Olympia, to serve as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives.

Rep. Kevin Waters sponsored Jacob, who is 16 years old. In his free time, Jacob enjoys studying economics and geopolitics. In his free time, he likes nature, aquariums and marine life, and watching movies and listening to music.

During his week serving as a page, Jacob attended Legislative Page School every day to learn about the three branches of state government, the lawmaking process, and the importance of civil discourse. He also had the opportunity to carry out numerous important duties that help the Legislature operate efficiently.

“It was a lot of fun having Jacob here this week,” said Waters, R-Stevenson. “He did a great job fulfilling his responsibilities and was thoughtful and hard-working. I hope he enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about state government and see how the Legislature operates. I wish him the best.”

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $65 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.

The House Page Program runs through the entirety of each legislative session.
