Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The 2025 legislative session begins next week, and I’m excited to return to Olympia and continue working for the people of the 17th District. It’s truly an honor to serve you. As we begin 2025, we face many important issues and priorities.

2025 Legislation

I plan to sponsor several new policies in 2025. I will share more details as I introduce those bills in the coming weeks. I have already prefiled House Bill 1104, which would update the Professional Engineers’ Registration Act and create a state board of registration for professional engineers and land surveyors. I will keep you posted on the progress of all my bills as they move forward.

New Committee Responsibilities in 2025

With a new biennium here, I will be serving on some different committees and taking on new responsibilities. I begin the 2025 legislative session as the top Republican member of the House State Government and Tribal Relations Committee.

This is a new committee for me, and I’m excited to serve as the ranking Republican to work on the many important issues facing our state government. I can’t wait to get involved and find positive solutions for everyone in Washington.

I will also serve on three other House committees: the Technology, Community Economic Development and Veterans Committee, the Rules Committee, and the Capital Budget Committee.

As a member of this important committee, I will be working to get more funding for important projects in our district. Over the last two years, I helped secure millions in funding for several projects in our communities, and that work will continue in 2025 and beyond.

House Page Program

The Washington State House of Representatives Page Program is now open for applications. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school.

Pages earn $65 per day while working in the program. During their week serving as pages, they attend Legislative Page School every day to learn about the three branches of state government, the lawmaking process, and the importance of civil discourse. They also get to carry out numerous important duties that help the Legislature operate efficiently.

If you have a student in mind who would benefit from this program, please share this opportunity with them. I would love to work with the young people of the 17th District in Olympia.
