Rep. Waters sponsors student from Camas middle school as House page

Liberty Middle Schooler, Justin Fisher, spent a week at the state Capitol in Olympia recently, to serve as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives.

Rep. Kevin Waters sponsored Fisher, who is 14 years old. In his free time, Fisher participates in several activities, including baseball, basketball, and soccer. He also enjoys playing video games with his friends and collecting cards and hats.

During his week serving as a page, Fisher attended Legislative Page School every day to learn about the three branches of state government, the lawmaking process, and the importance of civil discourse. He also had the opportunity to carry out numerous important duties that help the Legislature operate efficiently.

“I enjoyed having Justin here this week,” said Waters, R-Stevenson. “He was hard-working, thoughtful, and had lots of energy. I’m grateful for his willingness to come to Olympia and participate in this great program. I wish him the best in his studies, and in all his other endeavors.”

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.

The House Page Program runs through the entire session, which is scheduled to end on Apr. 23.
